EquityZen Response
3yThank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience with EquityZen. We’re glad to hear that our work-life balance and compensation were positive aspects of your time here. We would like to take a moment to address the feedback you provided.
We take your concerns about inclusive culture seriously, and, as demonstrated by our almost 2 year long partnership with Paradigm (www.paradigmiq.com), we have built systems and structures to support our work in this area. Paradigm has helped us not only develop workshops on topics such as Inclusivity and Managing Unconscious Bias, but also guides for quarterly, in depth discussions on these topics and more. Going forward, we remain committed to fostering an environment where all employees feel valued and supported. Our DEI initiatives are ongoing, and we are continuously working to improve.
As for the lack of a manager, there has never been an instance where an EquityZen employee did not have a direct manager. Additionally, this issue was never brought to the attention of a leader or People Operations team member, which makes this specific piece of feedback hard to address.
Conducting a RIF is never easy and we did our best to approach this process with respect for all impacted employees. Rather than an email or turning off access to key systems, we decided it would be best to have 1:1 conversations with each impacted employee and we developed severance packages that we believed to be both fair and clear. We understand that individual experiences and feelings may differ, but it is important to name that we received extensive feedback from both current and former employees stating how much they respected the process, as challenging as it may have been.
