Pros

The company allows pretty much anyone to push for pretty much any position or change, even if they put obstacles in the way Depending on arrangement, hours can be met in just a few days Show up to office pretty much whenever, if doing management work See all sorts of venues

Cons

The company is notorious for having horrendously old-fashioned, out of date business attitudes, terrible personalities making problem solving next to impossible, and high-stress event days made more stressful by solvable problems

Pros

Great co-workers, a sense of making an impact on someone's life through our events, set your own schedule, the opportunity to work within many departments (linen, kitchen, floral, etc).

Cons

You cannot survive working this job alone, as work hours are dependent on how many events are happening from week to week (unless you are salaried, and there are very few people that are). The work is physically demanding, and shifts can be anywhere from 4 to 22 hours long in one stretch. You never know what you're getting into when you accept a shift. Things can be unorganized, and there is a culture of drug and alcohol use on the clock, which is concerning. Can't keep people around, so temps are used often for events which can sometimes be an absolute nightmare. Pay isn't great. Raises and opportunities for promotions are few and far between. Heavy lifting required, but no safety gear provided, making it easy to injure yourself. Nobody can get the company health insurance because almost no one is considered full time due to the unpredictable nature of event scheduling (plus it's too expensive, anyway, even if you somehow manage to work full time).
