Pros

None I can think of. If anything working here has actually been damaging for my career as recruitment agencies and local companies look down on working for this place. Its seen as a bit of a long running joke in the local jobs market. Always advertising for jobs due to the number of leavers, very hard to recruit for due to its reputation. Tread carefully!

Cons

Where to start really? Probably at the top. The CEO is your typical ‘Del Boy’ type character who is an ex salesman who still has the gift of the gab, just not much else. Somehow he managed to create a company, sadly when he created the company he forgot some useful skills for a CEO to have, such as providing a compelling picture for staff to get behind, a sound business mind, heck even a mind would have been helpful. Instead what you’ll find is a CEO who is one temper tantrum short of a breakdown. The CEO’s outbursts are legendary at Epos Now. From shouting at people in the open plan office, to throwing things, causing people to break down in tears and just generally being the sort of chap who if he acted like this in public would likely be arrested for public disorder. If you manage to get on the end of one of the CEOs outbursts there are a few important things to remember. You are letting him down, you’re letting the team down, you’re letting the company down, you are a let-down. Try not to laugh at him when he is providing this ‘motivational talk’ to you, it only makes him upset. The sales team is your typical wolf of wall street group, just replace the wolf with a slightly fragile cat and wall street with Ber street and you’ll get the picture. These are the group who have to try and shift the unreliable hardware to customers, the one thing Epos Now did manage to do right is produce a set of T&C’s so loose that once a customer signs up they are stuck. Check out trustpilot for a flavour of some of these customers views of the place. The support team are not your standard support team trying to help people, instead they have to deal with the very unreliable hardware and software that frequently breaks and at the same time attempt to sell the poor customer some till roll to make it all feel better. In 99.9% of cases this won’t help and instead the support team tend to just pass the problems down to the software team. The software team are the forgotten people of Epos Now, as they ‘don’t generate revenue’ (The CEO’s words not mine) they normally get forgotten about. Except when things go wrong (Which is frequently) when they suffer the bulk of the CEOs temper tantrums and end up letting everyone down etc. They are expected to work with poor hardware, poorer software and a skillset about 2 years out of university. You’ll also note the number of positive reviews on here that all seem to be posted on the same day. This should be an indication that when a genuine review (Such as this) is posted, that Epos Now floods GlassDoor with fake reviews speaking of all of the positives about the place. These are undoubtedly not true and normally posted by management. They also have quite possibly the worst retention rate in the country. People normally last 12 months tops, by which point they’ve either suffered a breakdown or realised that the only one getting any success is the CEO who somehow manages to buy a nice new car, rebuild his nice new house or purchase a few nice new properties for his other business off the hard work of his staff. Finally, a word on the numerous awards that Epos Now likes to sing about. The majority of these are paid for nominations that Epos Now makes. Some of them are even (whisper) made up. But don’t tell the customers that.

Epos Now Response

We are sorry to hear that this is the view you hold of EposNow. Whilst we always welcome comments and feedback those stated in this review are unnecesarily personal and we won't reply directly to those and we completely disagree with the points you have made. However, we would always encourage an employee who feels this disengaged to talk to their manager or HR whilst still with us to see if there is anything we can do to help, as we would never wish anyone to work at EposNow and feel the way you do. We pride ourselves on having great people at EposNow and are disappinted that you didn't raise these issues with us when we could have had an opportunity to still help you. However, in relation to some of the points you raise, as you will be aware, we are working hard on moving the company forward to its next stage of growth and this does include reviewing our approach to benefits offered, improving our approach to talent and development and embedding our key values of resilience, total accountability, thinking smart, being mindful and curiosity. We are always honest that we are learning as we grow and will continue to do everything we can to keep improving the experience people have with us. In addition we can categorically say that we do not and have never written fake reviews. It is completely against Glassdoor policy to write fake reviews and we fully support this. People in the organisation are free to leave a review whenever they wish. In relation to our awards, which we are very proud of, many awards do require a level of payment to enter the awards and this is completely standard practice. However we have never and will never create fake awards. If you would like to discuss your views further with us so that we can both allay some of your concerns and also learn from your experience then we would welcome the opportunity. Please contact our HR team on hradmin@eposnow.com and we will arrange a telephone chat or face to face conversation with you. We wish you well in your new job and thank you for your contribution to EposNow during your time with us.
