Pros
Epic allows a significant amount of autonomy in your job. The description is intentionally vague -- we are here to make our customers successful; there are various approaches that can lead to success. Epic will allow you to pursue various approaches. We are personally accountable for the success of projects, and are not just a cog in a machine. If you do your job well, the pay is very good -- they will pay TS just as much as developers at Google/Facebook/etc earn, but the cost of living is far lower in the midwest than on the coast. For me, this is not just a job -- At this point I assume I will retire from Epic at some far-off point in the future.
Cons
The downside to personal accountability is that you may never quite feel like you are free -- even on vacation you may still find yourself wanting to check in on projects that you are involved in.
