Pros

- Looks great on your resume if you can stay 2 years, especially if you want to stay in the healthcare industry or become a consultant - Great way to learn about the healthcare industry - Amazing product IF implemented correctly - Medical insurance benefits can't be beat - Since almost everyone works from the Madison campus, it is a great way to network and meet incredibly smart and talented people

Cons

- Very unhealthy ranking system. They boast about having a very "flat" corporate ladder, however they give bonuses and raises based on some obscure ranking they do, leaving employees wondering why they didn't make as much as their friends. - (For developers) Very outdated code language. Pretty much no company knew about it when I started applying to other places. - Takes advantage of the fact that most of their new hires have never had a job before and makes them think that the perks (free juice and popcorn) are worth the workload (12+ hr work days, insane amount of travel, endless meetings). You can get SO much more at other companies. Which is why most people don't even stick it out 5 years for their sabbatical. - Company culture is horrible. For a company that gets criticized about hiring people straight out of college, they still treat their employees (of all ages) like children. Drinking is not allowed at any event - you can't even go to a random restaurant in Madison with Epic in the reservation name (ie: Epic club softball team) and order a bottle of wine. If you are caught having a drink with a client, you can get fired. This notion that Epic employees are irresponsible kids is extremely disrespectful...my friend even got a drink with the VP of the company, and he would not buy him a $3 beer. - They are religiously insensitive. You get a list of holidays to choose from to take a "flex" holiday and not a single one is a Jewish holiday. I asked HR if I could use my flex holiday so I could go home for Yom Kippur, and they said allowing this would be a slippery slope. So, I could take the Monday after Easter off, but not the most important Jewish holiday. - Wasted time in 2.5 hr staff meetings where the CEO reviews the same exact slides she reviewed the month before.
