Pros

Growing team of friendly and dedicated people - so many genuinely kind folks across the company! Fantastic annual whole-team get togethers where we can celebrate all we've achieved. Great holiday allowance. Great to be part of an organisation making a difference with people who truly care about reversing biodiversity loss and healing our lost habitats.

Cons

Not really a con, but working remotely isn't for everyone - so it's good that Environment Bank has office hubs for people to get together. Similarly not really a con, but we're working in a sector that's still emerging - and while we're absolutely leading the way and having fantastic success, we have to be ready to adapt to changes as the industry evolves. I really believe that as an organisation, we're always trying to move in the right direction, listen to each other, and improve the way we do things for our people and for nature.

Pros

The sales team has expanded over the last year to a great core of the business. Innovative workplace, able to pivot to market needs in a new and complex market. Sales team and wider leadership understand the needs of the market and company needs, they are able to balance this with restoration of nature to make sure they are able to make the most impact on nature over a longer period of time. Great to work as the market leader in a space. Remote first working, with in person working every month means you get a great work life balance without being left on your own, which from experience is a hard thing to balance.

Cons

With the industry being so new, the legislation moves constantly, sometimes meaning the business has to make changes at the drop of a hat you have to be able to try new things and meet the market need where it is.

Pros

EB has been a breath of fresh air following time in the charity and public sectors where wages were stagnant and promotions were non-existent, but not so at EB. Pay is good, holiday is generous and staff socials and training is abundant. Great familial culture and lots of good people. The staff get togethers are superb and I've felt very looked after since I've worked here, having been offered plenty of opportunity to progress and expand my knowledge. Management have not shied away from showing the door to poorly performing individuals which has been encouraging to see. Too many times I've worked in organisations where people are not doing their job but management have been too scared to take action, allowing disfunction to become entrenched. If you're an environmentalist wanting to be involved in exciting habitat creation and restoration projects then EB is 100% the place for you. EB is easily the best place I've worked!

Cons

The pace of change has been challenging at times and new processes have necessarily come thick and fast but this is to be expected with BNG which is a relatively new marketplace.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. It really means a lot to hear how positive your experience at EB has been. Knowing that you’ve felt supported, recognised, and given space to grow is exactly what we aim for, and it’s wonderful to hear that you’ve found the culture, training, and team spirit to be such a good fit for you. Your comments about feeling looked after and having opportunities to progress are especially appreciate, it’s great to see that reflected through your experience. We're also glad that our approach to performance management has helped create the kind of high‑performing, accountable environment you value. You’re right that the pace of change can sometimes feel fast, especially in a developing BNG landscape. We’re committed to making that journey as smooth as possible and continuing to improve how we communicate and support everyone through it. Thank you again for the difference you make at EB and for calling it the best place you’ve worked, that really is fantastic to hear.
