Pros

I've worked at EnviroIssues for a bit and this place suits my personality well. Compared to my last job, I enjoy not having a boss, taking time off when I want or need, and not working in a punitive environment. Instead, I have a high degree of autonomy (and yes I am still accountable to myself and others), a lot of flexibility in my schedule, a sense of being part of a collective antiracist journey, feel supported by my colleagues, and having healthy boundaries with work and my personal life. To do well here, at least where we are currently (Dec 2021), be aware of where you are on your own antiracist journey and be prepared to put relationships and trust first vs having all the answers (you won't). There's a lot of complexity in running a business successfully, navigating capitalism, and still living out our values, and we're still definitely figuring that all out. In the meantime, leadership puts their money where their mouth is by investing resources into racial caucus groups, fishbowls, affinity groups and other learning opportunities for employees.

Cons

We're building a ship and at the same time trying to steer it in a different direction; change is inevitable and it can also be slow. Sometimes the work I want to pursue isn't available yet, and it's a practice of long-term strategy and patience.

Pros

The office space is nice and has snacks

Cons

I've never worked at a more disorganized and chronically underdeveloped firm. Internal teams are severely understaffed and overburdened, and they also have high turnover. Even the company website remains unfinished after three long years since they started the redesign. It's hard for younger associates to advance and receive recognition. There’s no real company culture or fair equitable processes, despite what they claim. I advise against working here unless you're strapped for cash.
