Pros
Working one-on-one with students and being in a low-stress environment are both great. If you like to work with kids (grade 4-12) and need a few hour of work each week, the rate per session is pretty good and worth it. It is a tutoring center in an office building, so the students come to you--no driving around to their houses like regular private tutoring. Most of the families and students who come here are great and easy to work with. Dan, the president and founder of Engaging Minds, is awesome and a super friendly, nice guy.
Cons
You are not paid for any extra (required) work that you do. This includes writing up a summary of your tutoring session, messaging with parents, emailing and talking one the phone with the lead educators about students. They will tell you it is $35 an hour, but its really $35 per session, with at least an hour of extra work each week that is unpaid (depending on how many students you have. Sometimes the extra work can be stressful if you have a particularly tricky student or difficult family.
You only get paid if a session happens. If a students cancels anytime before the session then you do not get paid, even if you are already there.
