Toxic environment adrift with power games and incompetent people - Anonymous employee EnergyAustralia Employee Review

Pros

There are a bunch of great people at EA who will really value you as a person. On a more cynical note – on the retail side of the business you can get away with not actually doing your job, which would be a pro for lazy and/or useless workers. If you’re lucky enough to get hired into the executive minus 1 layer, you will be vastly overpaid and not expected to deliver too much.

Cons

Unfortunately, the company is awash with incompetent folks led by directionless management. The Executive team appear to pull in several different directions with no consistent message to those under them. This ambiguity leads to power struggles in the direct reports to the executive team, and worse a toxic environment that manifests itself as a backstabbing us vs them culture. Talented but nice people are appreciated but not developed, conversely the narcissistic folks are promoted and praised for small isolated wins that do not align with company strategy but rather a particular whim of an exec or exec direct report.
