Pros

The people are fantastic and I found the work was engaging and interesting. I found that if you are willing to put in the effort and interest, they will expand your responsibilities and offer you additional training and work in different departments. If you have the initiative, you can likely reach a management role as they recognize and promote from within typically. They are also typically very flexible with scheduling.

Cons

Unfortunately, the pay and benefits make prolonged work here difficult. A college-educated chemist is paid a pittance to start and the pay grade doesn't not increase much from there. You could make more at a job that doesn't require a collegiate background. If you do put in the time to become multi-faceted and valuable, and you are offered a supervisory role, the salary is still insufficient compared to other companies in the industry. I found that this company was a great place to get your foot in the door as a young, fresh-out-of-college chemist who needs some experience for their first real career move.

Pros

The people are awesome! They care about each other and come together to help each other out. A new supervisor was promoted to the Inorganics department who is very knowledgeable and cares about the team. When errors happen the supervisors focus on how to improve the process or help the team know their job better instead of who to blame. The company supports people volunteering their time to help in the local schools and support local fundraising events like the Children's Run and the Women's run. There's opportunity to learn lots of different instrumentation and techniques. The company puts a focus on cross training in multiple areas which allows for variety. The supervisors have people learning new techniques. A lot of the instrumentation is automated due to the amount of samples.

Cons

In the summer there's a heavy work load and the work can sometimes get monotonous.
