Pros

Endava is a company with high ambition and high growth goals. Primarily an agile application development and testing company with a great track record in this space. There is a big focus on culture among all offices which means you get to work with some truly amazing people. Camaraderie in offices is high and you truly feel you are part of a team. Endava is punching above its weight class in the clients it has and seeks to do business with. There are some real superstars in the organisation.

Cons

With fast growth comes great challenges. Finding good people to start projects and new clients can be challenging - it is often those who shout loudest rather than a balanced view to grow the business. It’s also symptomatic of a federated business unit model where there is little incentive for BU’s to help each other out. There is a desire to move into all sorts of additional areas such as strategy and consulting. Focus on what you are good at, not what big management consultancies and strategy consultants are good at. There is a huge culture of promoting within which can be positive, however in various areas now this has led to people in management positions who can’t manage and a singular focus on making sure those coming up through the ranks succeed at all costs. Senior hires often don’t get listened if the advice doesn’t fit into the “Endava way” of thinking even if the advice might help. With recently going though and IPO, Senior management are often now too busy to provide leadership or direction and the gap between where they want the company to go and middle management is growing.

Pros

This is a remote role

Cons

The environment is not set up for you to succeed. Depending on the team, the manager runs the team with little breathing room, constantly asking for status updates after a couple of hours of work. Daily meetings can be dreadfully long, wasting valuable time that could have been spent doing work, which leaves a small window of time before your manager impromptu calls you at random times of the day. Clients are incredibly difficult to deal with, having you interface with outgoing contractors who will fight you at every step of the way to making any meaningful progress. It is pulling teeth to get any cooperation, being misdirected, and heavily scrutinizing you to standards they don't even hold for themselves. Do not expect to be productive here, you will run through so many layers of red tape before you lose all motivation to make any impact.
