Pros

Colleagues are quite nice, friendly, and open to understanding different cultures.Work from home makes life easier,

Cons

If Line Manager changes and new Line Manager is not interested in your growth, you are stuck. There is no process by which you are ensured a review. Also, you never get to have your say in your review. If Line Manager wants you to take on completely different responsibility which is out of normal duties, and you say no, you can kiss career growth goodbye. Work from home has its minus side that even when you are very sick, you are expected to meet deadlines. If Line Manager likes someone, their career is made, even though there may be people better at the job than that person. Whoever hires the Line Manager allows the Manager to make any changes they want.

Pros

This is a remote role

Cons

The environment is not set up for you to succeed. Depending on the team, the manager runs the team with little breathing room, constantly asking for status updates after a couple of hours of work. Daily meetings can be dreadfully long, wasting valuable time that could have been spent doing work, which leaves a small window of time before your manager impromptu calls you at random times of the day. Clients are incredibly difficult to deal with, having you interface with outgoing contractors who will fight you at every step of the way to making any meaningful progress. It is pulling teeth to get any cooperation, being misdirected, and heavily scrutinizing you to standards they don't even hold for themselves. Do not expect to be productive here, you will run through so many layers of red tape before you lose all motivation to make any impact.
