Pros
Overall I was satisfied working with PSAV. I was paid well and left to my own devices to get the job done, which worked for me. My local property management was terrific. I enjoy customer service which was the main point of my job.
Cons
The main issues with PSAV is that your job satisfaction has a lot to do with who is managing the property you are working at. I know of many horror stories from employees at other properties with Directors who did nothing, or micro managed. Often times a real lack of common sense was the biggest problem. This created huge issues for the ground level staff. I can not really speak for the Corporate side of things, but I can only imagine. A lot of pressure is put on local Directors to keep costs down, which means scheduling as little as possible for hourly help. Beware if you are taking a part time AV job, when business at a property is slow, you won't get any hours. Also the benefits were not that great. Like many other companies in this economy they discontinued contributing to 401K's. They did not give any time period for how long this would be and I would bet they won't start up again for many years. Also to cover myself and my husband for medical insurance I was paying about $90 every two weeks. The coverage itself is so-so, especially dental. Seems like every time we saw the dentist we had to write a check for an extra $100 or more just to get a filling. While there was a little extra training, it really didn't help me much with my position. The training is focused on the AV staff, but doesn't really help those of us in office jobs. I think more focus should be placed with customer service training, and people management skills for Directors and higher.
