Pros

Well-run administratively; Better than average pay and benefits for a small company; HR issues are handled competently and professionally; Good opportunity to learn from some of the best engineers in the industry.

Cons

Horrid VP of Engineering! He's your best friend if you know how to kiss up, but that is all. He's very chummy with employees while face to face. But I've sat in meetings listening to him needlessly blast employees who five minutes earlier he was best buds with. Then afterward he'll lecture an engineer who just came up with a fantastic design about how he did it better, faster and cheaper 20 years ago in Brazil. Gimme a break!

Pros

Working at EmpowerRF has been the best choice of my 20 years in engineering. Engineering is given a fairly wide berth to quickly address changes in requirements or sales landscapes. Leadership fosters a dynamic fast-paced environment, with significantly more emphasis on delivering than with maintaining an 8-5 schedule. Engineering leadership typically listens to employees opinions, and encourages the employees to arrive at their best collective solution. Working remotely occasionally is tolerated, so long as results are reliably produced. The engineering design work is challenging; problem solving makes the day go by very quickly. Engineering/architectural trade-offs are assessed, debated, and implemented quickly.

Cons

For a variety of unfortunate reasons, engineering is often the last department to touch larger systems before shipment...and often pays the price for schedule slippages of all other departments. The end of every month can be difficult and trying time to be an employee. Colossal pressure is applied by management to get product out the door by close-of-month.
