Pros

You work with passionate and smart people. Most people are very friendly and willing to talk to junior staff.

Cons

While the org has a good mission, junior staff are underpaid and overworked. EMILY's List insists that cycle hires are necessary and industry standard, but then turn around and fill those same positions a few months later. This left cycle staff feeling overlooked and unemployed in the middle of a pandemic. The org recently unionized which should be a help for future cycles of junior staff and interns. Interns are given just a stipend and not paid DC minimum wage which among other things will hopefully change soon.

Pros

Loved working at EMILYs List. Everyone there is so passionate and really wants to help you. They have great networking and cross-department training resources.

Cons

The internship itself, at least for design, was a bit unstructured.
