Pros

-Great name recognition, and the cause is really worthy and inspiring -The people you meet there are really inspiring and can be great connections to opportunities outside of EMILY's List

Cons

-This is a short-term kind of position for junior staff, a few months to a year at most. You'll need to find opportunities outside of the organization if you are junior/entry-level staff...there is very little room for advancement or skills-building outside of an incremental title bump if you manage to stick it out a year or two of being overworked and underpaid. -Assistants in particular are criminally underpaid, especially considering the cost of living in DC and what they could be making elsewhere - this is also true for most of the junior level staff. "Do it for the cause," they say, but will the cause pay my (absurdly high) rent and student loans and/or buy my groceries? -They talk a good game about empowering women and valuing diversity, but salary negotiation is not encouraged and the lack of diversity in mid to senior-level staff is just absurd

Pros

Loved working at EMILYs List. Everyone there is so passionate and really wants to help you. They have great networking and cross-department training resources.

Cons

The internship itself, at least for design, was a bit unstructured.
