Pros

Was located near where I lived and great individual contributors work here

Cons

The decisions being made at the manager and higher levels was absolutely atrocious. The company morale was at an all time low when I finally decided to look for a better job. The turnover is high for numerous factors which include low average wages/salary for the region, no ability to move up into management, and some of the managers doing absolutely nothing for personal development. The initial quality of the place seems very high the first 6 months of employment but you soon realize how much the company is making questionable decisions and doing things blatantly wrong. The union president also rules with an iron fist and no meaningful changes will ever be approved.

Pros

Great immediate supervisor and their boss. Made top-down communications tolerable. Great co-workers and great collaboration that lifted the entire team.

Cons

(1) RIF based on tenure, not performance. HR is too powerful a department, and everyone fears it. (2) Tenure made you lazy, killed creativity, initiative, and promoted a "yes" culture. (3) During COVID layoffs, CEO pay went from $3.7 million to $15.x million, while employees endured 25% furloughs for 3 months, and management 10% reduction in pay for 6 months - explain how that is reasonable. (4) CEO declared DEI as the way forward for career mobility, and a lot of young, promising talent walked out the door, including DEI-qualified minorities. (5) I was one of those minorities.
