- Number of years with the company is the first criteria to get promoted as manager or executive. You have to start young with Emerson, and get detected and placed in their internal Leadership program to get a chance to become an exec or a VP someday. If you join them at mid-career level, you will remain at the same position for years, no matter how well you perform.
- Rigid management, with an "even keel" mindset.
