Revolving Door - Bartender Emeril's Employee Review

Pros

It's a decent place to work as a SERVER as long as you're willing to work hard and put up with a lot of BS. They give you employee meal daily but a lot of the staff is right not to try it -there is a long history of people getting sick because of undercooked chicken and salad dressings 'on the edge'.

Cons

As a MALE BARTENDER, you're not going to last long. Your job will be to do all the physical work: -on delivery days, you'll take up to 20 cases of beer/liquor to the 2nd floor cage thru 3 flights of stairs; -you will bring a couple of cases of beer/liquor to the ladies at the main bar. After you're done with all that, you can start setting up your service bar upstairs(10'x10' white tile covered room with no air conditioning). Also, because of recent changes to company policy, they only keep 2 bartenders full time and it's always going to be the 2 girls mostly scheduled at the main bar -even if they promise you otherwise. Buyers beware!

Pros

First, the corporate people who came into the restaurant quite regularly were always wonderful. Also, the waistaff and kitchen staff were for the most part, great to interact with.

Cons

Unfortunately, the good stops there. The restaurant has a very toxic environment. This was created via certain members of management openly yelling at employees during staff meetings and cursing at employees if they did something wrong. I was a witness to this behavior on multiple occasions. In fact, a manager cursed at me for (allegedly) putting clean napkins on a dirty table. In fact, the customer put his dirty plates on a clean table. When I pointed this out, there was no apology whatsoever. In fact, so many people were so unhappy there, the turnover was very high. In another instance, another manager started cursing at us in a staff meeting simply because some servers accidentally asked the wrong kitchen staff member for an item for a guest. This is just a short list of the many things upper management did to create a toxic work culture.
