Pros
I work for the Worldwide campus (headquarters is not far from the residential campus there) but live elsewhere. Actually, I have moved twice since being hired with the only difference being the state taxes deductions. My department is quite friendly even with the distance between us all. At least once a year we gather in person and have a lot of (tame) fun together. Students are about the same as the community colleges I've worked at before. I teach almost exclusively in general education; no background in aviation or aerospace. I learn a lot about both of those fields from my students so I'm never bored with the content of just a few courses taught repetitively.
Cons
Nine week terms (residential campuses have traditional semesters) make it difficult to help the struggling students. Time zone variety is challenging for one-on-one meetings as well. Teaching virtually is very different than in-person (and different from emergency virtual, as in 2020). It has both rewards and challenges.
