Pros

Working at Efficiency Capital has been a rewarding experience overall. I truly appreciate the meaningful impact of our work in driving energy-efficient retrofits and sustainable finance projects. The company’s mission aligns well with my values, and it feels great to contribute to real change in the real estate and decarbonization sectors. My colleagues are knowledgeable, supportive, and passionate, which creates a collaborative and stimulating work environment. The variety of projects I get to work on keeps every day interesting, allowing me to develop a broad skill set across business development, finance, and sustainability. The exposure to different aspects of the sector provides excellent learning opportunities.

Cons

Workload can be quite high at times, which makes work-life balance challenging. Likewise, balancing rapid growth with robust systems and infrastructure to prevent strain on business processes and culture continues to be a challenge.

Pros

Efficiency Capital is your dream start-up! - Both the industry and company are growing and it's a fantastic opportunity to be a part of solving the climate crisis. - The leaders entrust you with high-priority projects on a continuous basis. - They are candid and provide you with the feedback you need to improve. - The team provides you with the support you need to thrive in your role. I started with little to no experience in energy efficiency and they were a huge reason I successfully managed the learning curve.

Cons

There were no cons in my eyes, although you do need to be comfortable with the nature of a start-up. That is: - Be prepared to handle projects that might be out of your comfort zone. Again, the team and trusts and supports you to get the job done. - As the team is relatively small, tasks and priorities can change on any given day. It is possible (and likely) that you will be working on one priority task, only to be instructed to shift your focus to a new one.
