Pros

Facilities are new. Washrooms are clean. Second floor washrooms have full floor to ceiling doors. These stalls are large and private and great to drop friends off at the pool. Unlimited disposable cups, plates, forks, knives and spoons for you to use to eat your lunch! If you want to be recognized at DON, just work hard and get results. Once DON realize you are a good employee with good results, they will start the milking and bleeding of your efforts. You will get more work since you are producing. DON does allow you work as hard as you want to. There many opportunities to learn. I do commend DON for proving 1000+ jobs to economy. If you do not have job or desperately need a job DON may be good for you. College grads might look to DON for a job as well. If you are a seasoned individual, DON might be a good stepping stone or a intermediate step for you. It will not be a final destination. If you are one of the unfortunate and end up with DON as a final destination, I know you are looking forward to retirement. Good luck!

Cons

When interviewing, please make sure to ask the proper questions about benefits. A great 401K program according to HR during the hiring process translates to $1000 match max per year. We have generous vacation according to HR means NO VACATION DAYS the first year. You can only use vacation (two weeks) the second year. We value good life balance means we like you to come in at 8am-5pm because that is our standard hours. You will get written up for being late. We like the work life balance in favor of DON. I have had many colleagues put in many hours during nights and weekends because the mantra is it cannot affect the business. So yes, depending on your job you will get called at night and weekends. DON afterall is at 24/7 operation. DON picks at night and delivers during the day. If you do work at night, you are expected to still put in your 8hrs daily/ 40hrs week job. The mantra is it is normal to put the extra time in because it is part of your job so no COMP days. Do not even ask. As for health care, DON like most employees nowadays will push you to HSA. They do offer PPO but it is an arm and a leg. Oh btw, jean day Friday is a perk! HR excitedly sends emails about jean day. Step back and realize we work in distribution centers/warehouses. Jeans and casual wear should be the norm. On the subject of warehouse, Google the layout of the Woodridge warehouse. The parcel of land is so close to the expressway that employee parking requires you to walk the full length of the warehouse to get into the building. In the winter, the traffic from the expressway will generate a wind chill that will make your walk from car to office to be very brutal. I guess it is the price the employees will pay for the sweet heart deal given to DON by Woodridge. The bottom line is if the owner and the controlling interest of the company gets paid, it really does not matter where the building is and how many parkings spots are available. Compensation is low compared to other companies. People who leave DON regularly get salary increases on 10%-30% increase in pay with better benefits. HR will tell you wages are competitive. Oh. Did you guys know that Amazon.com is in Joliet now? They also sell kitchen stuff to businesses.
