Pros
The story the company sells to future employees is a great fable. The reality is more like a tragedy. The company aspires to have a global reach with the Dantesque management style of a corner shop. Maybe there is a team culture in NZ, but in other regions and for those working remotely, it is an endless routine of sucking up to people and to the perceived "company culture". In fact, there is a lot of back stabbing going on and most of what I have seen so far is only for show. Senior management is shaky at best, with lots of senior members coming, promising, not achieving and going, and that is from the CEO all the way down to mid-management. That has had a very detrimental effect on staff as a whole who had believed they have joined a company that would be here for a while. Things are not going great and people feel very unsettled and unsure about the future.
Cons
Too many policies and managers and not true consistency. At EP, only those who suck up to their line managers will survive in the short term. In the long term, sales performance will dictate who they can afford to stay and who they will need to let go. We have just seen the US team been let go, and next it should be the Canadian team. Before that, many more were let go because the company's expectations were unrealistic and the support of international growth was paltry at best. The product is ill suited for an international user base, so they should concentrate their activities around Australia and New Zealand, where users are not very demanding of their digital resources.
