Pros
Working at EduEdge has been nothing short of a fulfilling and transformative journey. I still consider myself incredibly blessed to have landed my first full-time role here. What makes EduEdge special to me is how much the company genuinely values its people. I have never felt like I was just a cog in the machine or stuck doing the same thing over and over. Instead, I have been given space to grow, to explore different aspects of the work. I was also able to develop myself in ways that matter not just as an educator but as a person. That kind of trust and support is rare and I do not take it for granted. One thing I still love about working at EduEdge is our intentionally built, deeply supportive culture. I am someone who recharges through connection so being part of a team where we genuinely check in on one another, especially during peak periods, makes all the difference. I often say (half-jokingly, half-seriously) that my colleagues are the reason I stay sane when times get tough! There is an unspoken spirit here that we do not let anyone fall behind. Whether it is grabbing iTea together when the day feels long or jumping in to lighten a teammate’s load, we show up for each other. That kind of spirit is everything to me at EduEdge. Over the years, I have grown in a couple of ways. Firstly, I have learnt how to become a more intentional and impactful team member. I used to focus a lot on individual performance. However, my time here has taught me to zoom out and to look at what the team needs and how I can contribute meaningfully. Watching fellow colleagues interact with parents and students with such grace and clarity has helped me grow in how I communicate. It should not be just to inform, but to connect and build trust. Secondly, I have learnt how to lead and more importantly, how to lead well. I have learnt that leadership is not just delegating or managing timelines but communicating with purpose, listening deeply and empowering others to do their best work. I am still learning but I have come to embrace the idea that leadership is not about having all the answers but about holding space for others to shine. Looking ahead, in 3 to 5 years, I see myself continuing to grow the reach and influence of the Staff Development Team. My dream is for EduEdge to become the preferred English Specialist in Singapore for students as well as adult learners and professionals who want to excel in their fields. I want to help drive that vision by contributing to training systems that are robust and human-centred, built around how people actually learn, grow and thrive. In the near future, I am focused on building strong internal systems to uplift every staff member from Admin to Teaching to CMS. I want each person to feel confident, equipped and proud of the work they do. Beyond that, I dream of setting up an EduEdge branch that focuses on developing educators, a space where fresh graduate teachers and aspiring tutors can be mentored, much like how our TAP trainees are now. I hope this can eventually become a talent pipeline that feeds EduEdge with passionate, well-trained educators who believe in our mission and values. It is a big dream but I believe in starting small, staying consistent and always keeping the “why” close to heart.
Cons
Despite the love and support from my colleagues, the reality is that peak periods can still be overwhelming. It is part and parcel of any industry and education is no exception. When the pace picks up and expectations from multiple stakeholders start to pile on, it can lead to fatigue or burnout, especially for someone like me who pours a lot of heart into my work. That said, I have learnt to manage my time well and plan my workload strategically, so I usually do not feel too overwhelmed. When things do get intense, honestly, nothing a good iTea and a heart-to-heart talk with my colleagues cannot fix!
