Pros

Everyone is really close, kind of like a family away from home. Small enough that as an intern I had the opportunity to take ownership of projects and really feel like I was making a contribution.

Cons

Small company with limited resources, but this can be an opportunity to learn how to be resourceful. The close-knit culture can be something you need to get used to, have to put in the time to earn everyone's trust.

Pros

I learned another area of materials management.

Cons

Current management very "clickish". Not supportive of any staff outside that group. Nepotism is rampant at the company. If there was a family reunion out of state and the plane crashed most of the employees would be gone "kinda" nepotism. This atmosphere generates favoritism, defensive and counterintuitive behavior across management. My advice would be to cover yourself at all times (CYA, baby!) And realize going into the job that it doesn't matter what your level of dedication may be, it won't be appreciated or supported by administration unless you choose to spend hours after work reinforcing the clickish rituals (even if at the expense of your family. ) Most of higher management do not have children, nor want them so do not expect parental support within policies or time off work (unless part of the click or family member).
