Pros

Frequently hiring; have met a lot of people with a lot of talent and knowledge. The families living in the programs are great to work with.

Cons

Very high staff turnover The people deciding how the work will be done are very disconnected from the actual work (and those doing it). The "Bridge to Self-Sufficiency" is a great concept, but very poorly implemented due to unrealistic workload and expectations. The company seems to be more interested in selling this model than in actually putting it into practice.

The EMPath direct service workload ratios vary across the organization. In our Emergency Assistance shelters the staff to participant ratio is 1:11. Yes, eleven participants to 1 mentor. In CFO and Mass LEAP, the ratio of staff to participants is between 1: 20/30. (These two programs are long-term five-year engagements; shelter programs are of shorter duration.) In the challenging Whittier Choice program four coaches have engagement with 120 to 200 families. In this program mentors serve as both specialists and generalists. Across the board, talented staff members do experience frustrations and joys. The work is human work. Self-care is integral to our internal training and practices. The organization permits and encourages flexible work schedules, vacation taking, time to reflect and change course as needed. Active listening is so important. It rivals trust as a much needed core disposition in our valuable work. Thank you for sharing. Perfection is not possible, but we strive together to achieve excellence through the advancement of collaborative feedback loops, consistent application of practice, and continuous evaluation.

Pros

Great community of like minded individuals working for a good cause. Room to grow.

Cons

Probably that they change the remote work, and you go to the office to meet people over zoom.
