Pros

The hotel teams are, on the whole, fantastic. Hard working people led by good General Managers. There are 2 or 3 great departments based at the head office team that will do their best to support the hotels but sadly its not enough. The IHG resources and training are great, definitely useful if you want to progress in hospitality as a career.

Cons

Where to start! Best way to sum this company up quickly is that if you're reading this, you're too good to work for Eclipse Hotel Group. Only accept a job if a) you're desperate or b) you really want to get IHG brand exposure. A lot of people who are offered then turn down the job after seeing the contract anyway. The guest is, at best, an after thought. The most dangerous part of this company is the total lack of support offered by the group to the hotels. When it does come you get the feeling the support department are completely out of their depth and are dangerously incompetent. Any conversation, if you are able to get one, will almost certainly include a number of lies told to just get rid of you. The lies will start as early as the interview process and just spiral! Will happily make up lies about others as well. No regard for the safety and welfare of the employees. If employees raise concerns support team members are know to bang their fists and on the table and say "Just do as I say". No understanding of how to get people to buy into ideas, real lack of leadership skills in general. When they do visit hotels, tend to just hide in offices or bedrooms. Don't deal with problems of any kind, generally do the opposite of support. Their only success of any kind is installing electric car charging points and then spend a huge amount of time trying to convince people to buy electric cars. Hotels are falling apart but at least they can charge their car. Sadly don't see others laughing at them and that they have zero respect in the business. Executives and Directors are not bad people at heart but blind to the problems in the group. Don't spend any time at all in the hotels. No experience of hotels outside the group that were given to them by their Father. They thinks that something bought 10 years ago is new!

Pros

The team on property was supportive.

Cons

I worked at one of their properties during "unprecedented times". The way they dealt with things says a lot about how they treat their people. Senior management in head office made racist comments towards staff, judging people by their nationality and not their skills. CEO/MD made no appearance and could not care less about staff safety. We got a £10 amazon voucher to "thank us for our hard work" during, again, "unprecedented times". Might as well have done nothing as this was laughable. I went through grievance process at the time and this was poorly handled. I had raised concerns about safety which was ignored, and ended up in serious issues whilst on shift. I regret not taking this further. Would honestly not recommend,

Pros

There are absolutely none whatsoever

Cons

I joined this company during a period of significant workforce turnover, which in hindsight should have been a red flag. Unfortunately, I chose to proceed with my employment, and my experience proved to be highly challenging. Throughout my tenure, I encountered consistent issues with payroll management. Despite numerous attempts to address these issues, the individual responsible for payroll was unable or unwilling to resolve them effectively. Additionally, the reception manager exhibited behavior that was unprofessional and counterproductive. This individual fostered a negative work environment through frequent disparagement of team members, inadequate support and training, and a tendency to blame others for failures rather than offering constructive solutions. Moreover, the company’s practices often prioritized financial gain over employee well-being. For instance, the decision to accept refugees, while financially beneficial for the owners, led to complications due to the lack of adherence to established rules and the presence of challenging behavior from some individuals. Support from management was notably lacking, despite the presence of a significant number of senior staff members. Requests for assistance were frequently met with indifference or attempts to shift responsibility elsewhere. Overall, my experience at this company was highly taxing and detrimental to my well-being. It was a demanding environment that tested even the most resilient individuals and ultimately proved to be a very unsatisfactory place to work.
