Pros

You get paid, usually on time. Sometimes the full amount that is promised! Dangling carrots is a good way to get people to work harder and you end up learning a lot in a short period of time because of the workload.

Cons

Horrible management, especially working with the portfolio of cycling clients. No real benefits other than outdoor prolink. Insane expectations and zero help or support from anywhere in the agency. If you ask for help or share any constructive feedback it backfires and results in management suggesting “you might not be cut out for agency life” Was referred to as a senior executive multiple times and when I inquired about it they told me “it was for appearances, and I wasn’t actually a senior” struggled to ever have them give me adequate raises and was promised raises that never actualized. Never got to use any of the products I was pitching although my “manager” received free product constantly but did 0 work for the clients other than consuming time in meeting with fluff and corporate jargon.

Pros

My internship at ECHOS was a genuinely rewarding experience. From day one, I felt like a contributing part of the team not just an intern doing busywork. I had the chance to support hands-on projects like media list building, trend and competitor research, and even drafting press releases and pitches. These opportunities gave me real insight into agency workflows and strengthened my communication, time management, and critical thinking skills. The team I worked with was incredibly collaborative and supportive. They made space for learning, encouraged questions, and consistently offered feedback that helped me grow professionally. I appreciated how approachable everyone was even though direct interaction with leadership was limited, the mentorship I received from my account team more than made up for it.

Cons

As with many internships, face time with executive leadership was limited, but I never felt disconnected or undervalued. The structure of the internship focused more on working closely with account leads, which gave me the mentorship and context I needed.
