Pros

Flexible schedule - everything is done online. $18/hr for entry level position. No drug tests. Most events are fun and working alongside my teammates has almost always been an excellent experience. Great work ethics and teamwork. You often get fed at events.

Cons

Offers benefits (health, paid time off, 401k match, Orca card) but can't actually give them to employees as none of them are even set up yet. Poor communication with staff. Management is very difficult to get a hold of and rarely responds in a timely manner. Often shifts will change (in times, locations, uniform requirements, etc.) with only spam-like emails as notification. Events are often far away and company does not compensate for travel time or parking. The owner of the company is often rude, dishonest, and will try to guilt-trip you into taking a shift you can't work. We receive many passive/aggressive group messages that we are not doing good enough work which only serves to discourage staff and decrease morale. Rarely is there a note of genuine appreciation and encouragement.

Echo Hospitality Response

Thanks for the feedback, but we would like to set the record straight on a few matters. We do offer benefits, and they are explained at orientation. This employee might be confused because we initially offered health care, but had very low enrollment, so we explored the idea of converting to an Orca card, but ultimately decided against that after conducting an internal poll and not everyone was excited about that option. So instead we decided to allocate those resources into larger staff appreciation events, and by rewarding our best team members with raises and accelerating our timetable for moving our starting wage up. We are on track to do just that this year, and we are really excited about it. The 401k match (technically an IRA) continues to exist and is available for any team member interested. This is, and will continue to be, and opt in program, because we recognize that not every employee is in a position to have some of their pay directed to long term savings, and it is not our right to make that call for them. Paid time off automatically accrues for every employee, not just those who work in Seattle, because we had this policy in place before the law and for all of our team. We are sorry you felt that way about our communications and appreciate the feedback. We disagree that we are difficult to get a hold of; we are diligent about responding to pressing issues immediately. Pros

Hands-on, in-person training on how to be an effective food server at formal banquets (corporate holiday parties, weddings, celebrations of life, etc.) - what's expected, what to do and not to do, how to properly mount and carry an oval tray full of entrees or dishes, which side to clear from and which side to place food from, how to set the table. I work directly for a catering company now instead of as a temp, and we mainly hire Instawork temps for huge parties: It's really a crap shoot as to whether or not they'll know what to do, or how to dress and act appropriately, because there's little-to-no training. Companies like Echo do a lot better job at preparing their employees for the industry.

Cons

No real opportunity for advancement within the company, but Echo's clients end up hiring the best temps for direct employment.

Pros

The company has a nice starting wage and allows the flexibility that I need in a 2nd job(I sign up for the shifts that I want to work). Unlike other companies that give you a set shift. This is extremely helpful to me. All I need to do is select the shifts that I want to work and then do my job to the best of my abilities. The company provides initial training and gives me the general knowledge on what to expect when working for different companies/venues. Since I can pick my shifts it gives me the opportunity to work at different areas and types of events. It makes every shift a little different and more enjoyable. The management of the company is wonderful. They have always been responsive and do what they can to answer any questions or concerns that I might have. I know this can be difficult since they might need to get answers from other sources.

Cons

I don't have any Cons at this time. This company is exactly what I need as a 2nd job.
