Pros
- Fast paced environment where you often have the accountability to get on and deliver projects - A lot of hard working and good people in the company - Great social life - Likes hiring young people so you can get a breadth of experience and responsibility you wouldn't at larger companies if you are starting your career
Cons
- Lack of strategic direction from leadership, particularly the CEOs, so it was difficult to understand how the company was going to hit it's high growth targets - Priorities frequently changed making delivering projects a real challenge - Inability of CEOs to listen to experienced professionals' advice means many at the company have become 'yes men' or fear losing their jobs - Inflexible working with terrible benefits - Company culture has a general lack of trust in employees and that 'work harder' will solve most problems - Back office staff are generally treated and spoken to poorly (in my experience). Unless you are from McKinsey, in which case you are good to go... most of the time.
