Pros

* Free lunch. Not great, but will save you $8-10 from buying lunch. * 20% discount. Great if you like Italian food like pasta. * Laid back atmosphere. * Located in downtown Boston, so easy to get to.

Cons

* If you are hired as a full time employee, beware! They will slowly cut your hours during the summer months or will start sending you home early. Horrible if you depend on this job to pay your rent. * Most of the managers are first time managers, so they are young and full of them selves. Eataly does not offer their managers any sort of training, Quite a few of them are rude, will order people around just because they feel entitled now that they are managers. *You can only enroll in their 401K after 1 year. The health plan including dental plan is quite expensive. * Turnover is extremely high. Eataly Boston location has only been opened for little more than a year and I was told by a manager that less than 10% of the original staff other than managers have been there for a year or more. Not sure how true this is, but given that I was constantly working with new people, I believe it. * There is no one in HR at the Boston location. They just keep leaving! The HR managers at the Boston location for some reason, keep leaving (which is saying something) so you have to call the NY office if you want anything done. * No one oversees the managers and since they are not trained they do as they please. I was asked if I could come in one day for 3 hours. I had to explain to my manager that MA law requires that I get paid a minimum of 4 hours a day, regardless. Sometime they even manipulate the time sheet to make sure it showed I took a break, so had to complain about that. *Not a place to build a career, but okay if you are starting out in the food service industry and need some experience.

Pros

Decent community and work environment, huge team so you’ll definitely meet some interesting people. Good for gaining early experience in the restaurant industry

Cons

Volume is unpredictable and inconsistent, so you have to be prepared to either be in the weeds with minimal assistance from management or ready to idle for 3 hours with two walk-ins per hour and no reservations. And the tourists are exceptionally insufferable here
