Good intention, good mission overshadowed by chaos - Anonymous employee East Harlem Tutorial Program Employee Review

Pros

It's an okay entry into the nonprofit education sector if you're interested in that. The mission and overall objectives appear solid and worth being a part of. Most colleagues were great to work with. Anti-racism commitment and anti-racism coalition was a great opportunity to keep discussions around antiracism alive between scheduled PD days.

Cons

Management structure is chaotic and doesn't live up to its own goals of transparency. Some decisions seem to be made ad hoc without concern for long-term impact. Organizational structuring at home office is also unclear. Managers encourage everyone to speak up, but most times if your thoughts/opinions don't align with theirs they'll dismiss your voice outright. Benefits were so-so. General wellbeing of staff could've been better to keep up morale and overall office culture.

Cons

Education and schools all have challenges. Sometimes hard and unpopular decisions have to be made with the larger picture in mind.
