Pros

Very millennial environment, always have an activity planned (this can be a con as well for anti-social employees). Work/life balance. Nice boss.

Cons

Compensation is not keeping up with cost of living in Denver. I would rather have more pay and less activities. Top management is old-school, and won’t introduce WFH concept although a lot of teams are already doing it. It’s tricky because there’s some people that WFH a lot and then there’s others who never seem to have an excuse to. WFH would make the company more competitive, but it should be standardized across the board. Unfortunately there is some favoritism in my team, and hand-holding which is unfair to others who put in the work.

EVstudio does have a flexible WFH policy, in fact we have several employees who are fully remote, though it really varies with job responsibilities and the clients, so its hard to guess the exact way to help. As far as compensation, we evaluate it annually and take into account the salaries that we have hired people at in the proceeding few months, that generally helps us tune the salaries to the market. Appreciate the hard work and would love to talk to the underdogs and give you a five star experience if you want to swing by my office, thanks for your work, Sean

Pros

Culture Team Spirit Management and Leadership

Cons

Allow non-performers too long before moving on, to the point that it can affect the work of other team members.

Pros

Great people and some very talented professionals. Culture is great.

Cons

Leadership had poor planning for business development pipeline. Processes and standards were inconsistent between departments and made deliverables difficult to present. Some divisions were stretched too thin and the staff were stressed out. Billing was a perpetual challenge. No bonuses for non-principles and not all the principles were created equal. Made for inconsistent leadership across divisions.

EVstudio does a wide variety of project types, however a large chunk of those are residential. The multifamily architecture billing index went from a high of 60 in early 2022 to several months in the low 40's in 2023 and 2024. Meaning that firms who do multi-family lost roughly 30%+ of their business in that time frame. In the same timeframe EVstudio only reduced our billings by 8%, not what we'd like, but far better than average. This was largely due to our diverse pipeline of business development. We've made major investments into diversification of project types, disciplines and locations; all with the goal of stability and growth. Ultimately principals are people and they do vary on their strengths. Annual salary reviews in November address the compensation based on performance and by comparing it across studios. Very glad that you see and recognize the talent and how much people care at EVS. Appreciate your time here and your feedback. - Sean
