Pros
- They did their best to build an office culture. There is a possibility that it will improve in the near future - Solid choice of benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401K and more
Cons
I was not apart of the production side of the company, so I can't talk about their managers, but there is a strangely strict heirarchy of executives, managers and employees. They definitely do not agree with the viewpoint that your managers are there to guide you into your best work, but instead they look at the employees under them as their minions. You are told what to do and not always why to do it, and you are not given the picture of the whole project that you are playing a part in. Everything is very secretive. All advancements and changes to the company are on a need-to-know basis. Now these changes could relate to you; however, if you are not in a place to help with the change, then you will only hear gossip about it until said change happens, leading to misinformation and a lack of trust between employee and supervisor. This type of secrecy is only increased when it comes to executives. As an employee you are completely shielded from the company mission, their five year plan, who they are looking to partner with, or work with, or where to expand to until it happens. You are simply meant to blindly follow. This leads to a lack of motivation to work. As I mentioned in the pros, ETE tries to have an office culture with fun food fridays and work outings, but no one knows what the goal of them are, or why they occur, so many don't attend and the events end up being more of stressors to the people throwing them together, instead of building connections and relationships in the office. Currently when trying to find a workplace, people seek out office culture. However, what they really mean is they want a workplace where they feel as though they belong, and they feel that their opinions are heard, no matter what their level of employment. This is not a company where that happens. I experienced this feeling with my direct manager nearly everyday, but I have witnessed these same characteristics throughout all higher-ups in the company. Please note that almost all good reviews of this company are from a manager/leader.
