Pros
As an intern, school is at the top of the priority list, ERDC shares these values. They have been flexible with my schedule throughout my time with them as I complete my B.S. in IT. The team of engineers we have been paired with have also been fantastic. They know we don't have a decade of experience, like some of them do, and that shows in our meetings when we show simple data translation to them, and they still ask questions (even if they potentially already know the answer to it). I highly recommend working here, I have had better experiences than bad.
Cons
When the government shutdown in 2025, someone dropped the ball prior to, which didn't secure funding for the interns for the next funding year. This left us out of work for 6 months. We are hosted by another facility, who has been wonderful, but creating a better channel of communication between that facility and ERDC is what would help prevent these sorts of problems. Not even from team to team, but from department to department like legal to legal for example.
