      Pros

      This company is the pioneer and leader in optimizing and developing new drilling technology including fracking. They run a tight financial ship and I expect them to be one of the survivors during this down turn in the oil and gas industry. Would happily consider returning to work with them during next upturn.

      Cons

      They are probably among the highest paying if not the highest paying and it is for a reason. They demand a lot (which could also be considered a pro) and one usually finishes their hitch completely exhausted.

      Pros

      The benefits were excellent, including medical, dental, and vision coverage. When I was hired in 2010, PTO was determined by a combination of age and tenure. By the time I left in December 2016, I had accumulated about five weeks of vacation.

      Cons

      In 2017, upper management decided to close the Tyler, TX division, which had been operating for at least 17 years. I had planned to retire from EOG, but that decision changed everything. I was given the choice to relocate or be laid off. Because I could not afford the cost of moving, I was laid off, which had a significant negative impact on my life. It took me more than two years to find another job in the oil and gas industry in Tyler, TX.
