Thank you for your feedback about the combined pool of sick/vacation time. I apologize that we did a poor job of explaining the benefits of it, when you first came on board. The idea behind having a shared pool for sick and vacation days, is that you can use your days however you want ,without being restricted to X number for sick and Y number for vacation...ie, your hours, your choice. We're trying to provide you more flexibility, so if you're not prone to getting sick, you get more vacation days. Also, as you now know we give everyone a week of paid time off between Christmas and New Years. In addition to that, as you also know, when everyone is caught up and there's a good opportunity, we like to give everyone surprise days off or short days.
Also, regarding your concern about the previously high health insurance deductible. As you know, last year we recognized that our health insurance plan was not adequate and have since purchased a new Silver plan with a $2000 deductible– and on top of that, we've decided to pay 100% of your health care premiums for all full time employees.
The 401(k) plan is still something we don't have a good solution for at this point, due to all the outrageous administration fees, but as you know we're exploring options and we hope to add this to our benefits as our company grows and becomes more prosperous.
