Pros

Higher pay than some industries in the area.

Cons

I can only speak for the Blending Department. It is divided into two areas. Germaine is all but dead due to the lack of availability of Germanium Tech. Arsine is run by an egomaniacal supervisor and engineer. The two of them maintain unrealistic expectations for the operators. There is a sense of a constant need to rush around and if anyone does not rush to their expectations, the operators are punished by means of being assigned undesirable jobs, even if unnecessary. Anything short of unquestioning obedience is met with ridicule or outright hostility. The management of Blending does not go over periodic performance evaluations with the operators, and thus, never reviews any issues that need to be addressed with the employees. Additionally, the supervisor is known to gossip about employees whom he feels are substandard to other operators in the department, creating hostility toward the operators in question. The supervisor behaves in an unprofessional manner toward the operators frequently, and does not hide the fact that he plays favorites. Overall, the environment of the Blending department is toxic.

We appreciate you taking the time to share feedback from your experience in the Blending Department, and we note your comment on pay competitiveness in the area. The behaviors you describe regarding leadership conduct, treatment of operators, and the handling of performance discussions do not align with the standards and values we expect in our company. Concerns about respect in the workplace and fair people management are taken seriously. While we cannot address individual situations via this channel, we encourage anyone who experiences or observes inappropriate behavior to raise it through HR or via our SpeakUp channels so it can be reviewed confidentially and appropriately. We also use inputs such as these to strengthen leadership accountability and improve how feedback and performance expectations are communicated. We wish you all the best for the future.

It is great to hear you value the people you work with at EMD Electronics. Strong collaboration and mutual respect are key to how we want teams to operate. We also understand that limited office locations can mean longer commutes and additional travel time. Site footprint and hybrid arrangements depend on business needs and role requirements, but feedback like yours helps inform ongoing discussions on how we can make ways of working more practical. Please continue to share your perspective through your manager, HR, or the Employee Engagement Survey so we can keep improving the employee experience.

Pros

Project was interesting. Team was friendly. Great pay for an intern.

Cons

Project was a small time commitment and a lot of my time was spent doing nothing which quickly became painfully boring. Multiple attempts at asking for more work led to nothing. While the team was friendly, nobody took much interest in my work or my experience except for my manager. Felt a bit unstructured/unprepared for an intern.

Thank you for taking the time to reflect on your internship experience. We are pleased that you found the project interesting, appreciated the friendly team, and felt the compensation was fair. At the same time, your feedback about periods of low workload and a lack of structure is important. Internships should provide meaningful learning, regular guidance, and clear planning, and we continuously work with teams to strengthen onboarding and day-to-day supervision. We will take your comments as input to improve how projects are scoped and how support is organized for interns. We wish you all the best for your next steps.
