Drip Response
8yHi! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! I really wish that you would have spoken to your manager or someone on the People Ops team before you left – I think we could have cleared quite a few things up for you and taken action to correct any mistakes we've made (we’re growing really fast; we’re rebuilding, repairing, and trying to improve things as we go!).
I'd like to address each concern here, but please feel free to reach out to me directly (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ashleylundquist/) if you'd like to chat through things in more detail.
- It would be really cool if we could somehow manage to get a full workload executed in a week, but we’re a lean team and we’re hustling pretty hard. The average work week is 40+ hours, but we don’t track hours (exempt employees) or even have “set” office hours.
- We’ve had some really fun events, including a party bus (highly recommend the ‘Black Diamond’), but unfortunately our management team can’t take credit for that. We have an awesome Employee Experience team (fka Ops) that plans everything from our weekly lunches and happy hours to holiday parties and volunteering events.
- We have LOTS of good people here. We would not be who we are or where we are without all of the amazing people we have on our team. Grunt level is not a thing here – honestly, we all do ‘grunt’ work (we’re an early-stage, lean team).
- People Ops and our leadership team work really hard to support a positive culture that fosters growth, impact, and fun (our Guiding Principles). The goal is to support and enable, not manufacture. We send out quarterly surveys to assess how people are feeling – your feedback would have been so helpful in a constructive setting. We fully recognize that we make mistakes and we’re always striving to grow and do better.
- You’re most certainly right, one of the reviews was written by me! :-D I recently opened this page and kicked-off the first review. As you know, all employees (and former employees) are welcome to fill out honest and transparent reviews too! Our People Ops team doesn’t identify as an ‘ace’ team, but we are working really hard to make sure that people are happy and have what they need to do their best work and live their best lives. The company has been through A LOT of changes, and we have a long way to go, but we remain focused on improving, growing, and trying to make an impact in our team’s and customer’s lives.
- Drip IS a growth engine – and it’s SO exciting! In general, it’s pretty typical for founders to hop off the bus at some point after an acquisition. We’ve been really fortunate to have, and continue to have, good relationships with the founders and their continued support.
- We’re a rapidly growing company. We put our customers’ needs first, which means we’re constantly changing, innovating, pivoting, and hustling. So yes, there’s a lot of change and heads will definitely spin – we fully recognize that this type of environment is not for everyone. There are a lot of AMAZING opportunities in Minneapolis and Utah that have more consistency and structure, if that’s what you’re looking for.
- Our former CEO wasn’t ousted and he didn’t choose our Senior Leadership Team. There are a handful of press releases you could check out that would get you up to speed, assuming you weren’t in any of the company all hands where we talked about this openly and directly. Also, no one in the entire company has a background in politics nor do we operate in that type of environment.
- We intentionally hire people that challenge the norm as well as respond well to constructive challenge. It’s the only way to grow.
- We value all opinions and perspectives, and again, thrive off of constructive challenge – it’s how we grow. We have zero tolerance for aggressive/abrasive behavior.
- Our Senior Leadership team has real world experience from previous roles at GoDaddy, Backcountry.com, Houzz, Amazon, and more. Every person on the team was vetted fully on everything from their approach to leadership and alignment with our guiding principles to their passion for our customers to their expertise within their function. We welcome and encourage feedback (we have tools and surveys in place for this) and would have loved to address any problems you were seeing, head on, while you were here.
- We have reputable and experienced investors that would most definitely take action if they saw a problem. Our team and our Board are really optimistic and excited about the growth we’ve seen and the growth that is yet to come.
