Pros
Drew University has a beautiful campus, kind and talented colleagues, and wonderful students. The benefits are solid, and most employees truly care about the school’s mission and each other.
Cons
Unfortunately, the communications department suffers from deeply toxic leadership that fosters a culture of fear, confusion, and disrespect. My direct supervisor frequently belittled questions, gave contradictory instructions, and discouraged collaboration — even becoming angry when I sought help from others. It created an environment where people felt anxious, unsupported, and undervalued. I’m not someone who gives up easily or quits jobs, but I made the difficult decision to leave after just six months solely to get away from my toxic supervisor. Many talented, hardworking people have left (or are planning to leave) for this reason alone.
