Pros

If you are a young college graduate looking to acquire experience in the healthcare industry, then Dovetail Health is for you. The corporate office location conveniently located near Route 128 in Needham, offering free parking. All employees are provided with iPhones.

Cons

If you are a seasoned individual seeking a mature professional environment, I would not recommend Dovetail Health as an opportunity. The initial, camouflaged HR interview gives the considered candidate a sense that the company is innovative and doing "big things" for senior care and its employees. You are ready to interview feeling like you could change healthcare for your parents/grandparents. Sorry to be a "Debbie Downer"... Upward mobility is applicable to those who's philosophy is "by any means necessary". They offer minimal benefits (e.g. no maternity leave), no Work Life Balance, and raises are non-existing. They have had a high turn-over rate for 2013-2014 from voluntary resignations, to firing, to lay-offs (app. 1/3 the company of 200 employees). If stagnancy and the ability to tolerate instability and uncertainty are your strong points, then CLICK HERE to apply.

Pros

You'll get a really warm fuzzy feeling at first when you talk at great length about all of the very sick people that you'll be helping. About the "culture" and the "family" and all of the buzz words associated with companies that people LOVE to work at. Everyone will welcome your awesome ideas and input. Encouring you to meet 1 on 1 with everyone in the company... It will almost seem like someone read an instruction manual on "how to create an awesome company" Which, in fact, they did...

Cons

The warm fuzzy feelings are unfortunately fleeting.. You'll realize that there is a lot of hot air and not much to back it up. When they decided to follow the book on creating an awesome company, they spend too much time and effort trying to manufacture things that should be organic. (i.e let's create a "culture team"). You'll find more and more that the stories of the "better good" lose their punch. There are no raises, so make sure you fight for your salary when you accept your offer. Expect to be in a LOT of meetings, and not really feel like you're contributing.
