Pros

Hardworking team, decent recruiting platform with potential

Cons

The product has potential, but mediocre execution and leadership. The culture is fratty and nondiverse. The retention rate for women is abysmal. 2 of the 3 ever female engineers quit in less than a year - now there’s 1 on a team of 15+, and diversity ratios and retention are bad on other teams as well except for customer experience. Women with children leave fairly quickly. The women still at Dover are extremely catty and cliquey, gossip behind people’s backs, and engage in bullying behavior. The number of times I've heard the "main clique" at the NYC headquarters gossiping about others is beyond me. Dover glorifies never taking a day off of work, having no friends outside of work, leadership hooking up with/dating members of their team, not having HR, and regularly yelling in internal meetings. Admittedly this is not uncommon for tech startups in general.

Pros

Really great team full of kind and supportive people who were all incredibly smart and motivated. Engineering culture was surprisingly mature for such a small and young team, which was a credit to engineering leadership themselves being great individual contributors beyond their managerial duties.

Cons

We were hiring incredibly rapidly immediately before multiple rounds of layoffs. It was an almost overnight shift that not only heavily impacted morale but made me question our leadership for why they had noticed the these negative signals so late.
