Pros

Salary typically commensurate with job responsibilities. Commitment to core mission is visible in most areas. Small group of leaders trying to make a change, but some area's refuse to shed their old habits.

Cons

Distribution department loaded with the sons/friends/former groundmen of almost every person in leadership. High level managers sending written communication at a 5th grade writing level yet in charge of million dollar budgets with no financial or profit/loss training. Only qualification , they were a good linemen and the former ground man for 'so and so'. Diversity is NOT a consideration, nor is intelligence, problem solving, leadership skills or appropriate communication skills when hiring distribution leadership. Inequity in performance is blatant, yet poor performers with connections aren't disciplined and top performers who challenge the status quo are ushered out the door before anyone notices. If you are a female, DO NOT work in distribution unless you are fine with being condescended to, tolerant of inappropriate jokes, behavior and leadership with no repercussions, and possibly even assaulted, then blamed for it. This company has ALOT to learn about #metoo. When a standard activity on out of town storm duty is taking your crews to a strip club, and then laughing about it at a corporate lunch...there's a problem.
