Pros
- people both decent and smart - atmosphere both relaxed and professional - opportunity to work with interesting and cutting-edge audio and video technologies, especially if you work in labs - nice, modern office - opportunity to work fully remotely - no major issues with middle management - ability to work mostly independently - no enforced methodologies like Scrum, dailies, etc. (teams can mostly self-organize) - quality is more important than deadlines - stock options greatly increase yearly income - extended severance package when laid off - probably one of the best places for tech professionals in Wroclaw, despite some cons
Cons
- job is not stable, especially if you're a contractor - frequent organizational changes; they are usually well-merited (projects no longer profitable, etc.), but they result in massive layoffs, including some people you'd think would be very valuable company (even senior techs and managers with 10 years of experience at Dolby) - fairly average salary, especially if you're experienced; good engineers will find much better pay elsewhere (even if you account for stock options, which vest just once a year) - there's a common feeling that upper management has no vision because it changes too often and/or is not clearly communicated - since many people work from home, if you prefer working from the office you'll likely end up alone there (does not apply to me, but just saying)
