Pros
Cool co-workers, laid-back CEO, and what the company claimed to be trying to do seemed really interesting. The company has grown at an incredible speed, and management is doing what they can to keep up. They are trying to stay on trend with progressive offices, you can bring your dog, there's yoga and strength training classes, lunch every other Wednesday and a lot of outside team events. The office is beautiful, and the benefits are pretty good too (22 days off a year, health insurance, free parking). If you work really hard, there is a lot of room for upward mobility and recognition. Get to work with a diverse portfolio of products across many industries (TV, music, and more). Start-up feel with a strong financial backing.
Cons
Unfortunately, this company will never succeed, especially not in LA. There are too many honest, promising, interesting companies that appreciate their employees in this industry for good, talented people to stay in such a stressful and unappreciative environment. The U.S. CEO and management staff have GREAT intentions, and were making strides, but the erratic Hungarian owner has a short temper, changes his mind on a dime, and has no idea how to run a company. He'll travel for months at a time, then come into the office and scream at staff, complain about dogs being allowed (one of the best perks), and threaten people for taking breaks. He sets entirely unrealistic timelines which completely demotivate the staff, and then fires people -many at a time- if they don't succeed. Work life balance is a joke when he's around, and if he could, he would have a sterile, sweat-shop style office where no one eats, slouches, or questions anything they are asked to do. He'll say off-record to only hire young, beautiful people (illegal, of course), that are experts in their industry, but without corresponding pay or titles, and then complain that hiring isn't happening quickly enough. Luxembourg HQ just came in like a bull in a China shop and fired all directors and managers, half the developers, and are making all of the U.S. office report to Luxembourg. He made a lot of money with an adult cam site fifteen years ago- and his ego has never recovered since. He is the one person standing in the way of his own company succeeding, and it's a terribly sad thing to see.
