Pros

Company has carved its own niche in the market Compensation Remote working

Cons

Right from Board of directors to Manager level folks, everyone is insecure After the CEO of Cloudways became the CRO of DigitalOcean, love is lost and the environment is more of fear Like other dirty corporates, new leadership is hiring their friends and family The CRO has balance in his bank so he doesn't really care about anyone Normally the company that acquires has higher rights and authority than the company which is acquired. In case of DigitalOcean its vice versa, Cloudways leadership is dominant, Paperspace treats it's DigitalOcean colleagues disrespectfully and lowly No in house product development You will be successful based on your shoe licking skills and not hardwork CRO is a big time micromanager, all the awesome VPs and SVPs have left as no one want to work with him but the board of directors cannot see that

Pros

- lots of ownership - decent middle management - great teammates - learning a lot - older employees do tend to have competitive RSU grants and salaries

Cons

- tons of legacy systems (10+ years version of Ruby on Rails... 10+ years since some products or services were updated, 0 associated automation to help) - last 2y of leadership has brought on tons of reorgs & changes. Example - recommended PTO days quietly went down, got rid of lots of free snacks, anniversary gifts went down $100s of dollars, plenty of silent layoffs - Senior leadership is focused on 1 thing - getting the stock price up. Has no interest in supporting some of our legacy systems that can prop up new products. - new hires are not fitting into our culture. Inflated titles. Empire building. Awarded for submitting buggy AI Slop code. Encourage working on the weekends. Starting to get toxic.
