Pros

Most employees are treated well at Digital Current.

Cons

In a lot of ways, being employed at Digital Current can be like a bad relationship; right when you're finally ready to leave, they say all the right things to make you stay, promising you the world. It doesn't take long to figure out that it's still the same unhealthy relationship. I was at Digital Current for several years. During that time it was constantly changing. Management changes, management style changes, company focus changes, etc. I think there is a lot of good that can come from change but there has to be stability as well. You have to see the fruit of your labors. Things never seem to come to fruition at Digital Current, they're "just around the corner". You can't trust the owners - they say one thing but do another. Although the number of overpaid, under qualified family members has sharply decreased over the years, they still exist and for a company as small as Digital Current, that's a big deal.

Pros

The people are great with no egos! The new hires in the last 18 months have made a HUGE difference in the quality of client work/deliverables and a happier culture. The office is mostly filled with laughter, music, and collaboration. Roles have become more defined over the past year and a half where people are now able to grow and develop their skills. There is real effort to promote work/life balance with most people keeping an 8-5 workday. This is rare for most agencies. The new office space is a much-needed change of scenery! The open floorplan and views from the 16th floor are inspiring and have everyone upping their game. Scott Elser (CEO) has a teacher mentality and brings a much-needed depth of experience which he shares with the agency. Jason Prentice (COO) has added the operations/project management leadership which was missing. DC is a great opportunity for all stages of your career.

Cons

There is a culture of spending too much time creating internal processes, running EOS, rocks, and projects compared to client work. This situation is getting better yet needs improvement. Due to the size of the agency, some roles require wearing multiple hats and carrying extra responsibility which has some people spread thin. Unfortunately, those being spread thin produce solid work yet not amazing and with some leadership responsibilities being squeezed. Hopefully, growth will resolve this issue. There is an opportunity for the ownership board to trust and allow the current leadership to run the agency. All great intentions yet will not best serve the agency in the long run.

Thanks for your input! We completely agree – our team is top-of-the-line and the new office is unbelievable. We hear you loud and clear on the internal processes taking up too much time: We’re addressing this now by reducing systems/process complexity, the volume of internal meetings and fostering a client-first culture. We hope you see these positive changes, but always feel free to reach out to anyone on the senior leadership team with comments or concerns. Thanks for being a part of what makes DC great!
