Pros

The employee culture is diverse and I really like a lot of the people I work with. Great co-workers who are passionate about their job. Leadership is very forward thinking about how to expand the company and constantly making improvements to keep their customers AND employees happy. I've been a full-time employee for 4 years and have gotten a significant raise every year. Leadership conducts annual performance reviews and compensates those who are doing a good job. If you are looking to be lazy, count the hours down to 5:00 each day and collect a paycheck, this is not the job for you. The team works very hard - including CEO (Barry Grahek), CFO and COO - and they expect you to do the same. It's funny to read nasty comments (obviously written by former employees) about issues at this company...in almost 5 years that I've worked here, DesertMicro has opened offices in Sacramento and Houston to provide better support for their customers in different time zones, and they are in better financial standing than they've ever been.

Cons

Adequate training is provided, but they customize the training based on what your projected responsibilities will be. Because of that, you may be expected to hit the ground running with little supervision shortly after you start, which can also be considered a positive thing if you are able to manage yourself well without being micro-managed.

Pros

Small teams, and a collaborative tight-knit environment.

Cons

Some employees were overseas with a varying schedule, so temporal coordination was difficult at times.

Pros

DesertMicro is the most well-respected software in the industry. They attend 12+ trade shows per year, and continue to grow their client base as well as develop profitable partnerships with other well-respected companies in the industry. I used to work for DM and found it to be the most rewarding job I've had to date. You will WORK YOUR BUTT OFF but feel such a sense of accomplishment through it all. The company's motto is definitely "work hard, play hard," and the CEO is very generous, treating employees to company social events, holiday parties, etc. My only reason for resigning was because I could no longer work full-time and found a part-time position...I now work for a small business that has a plethora of issues that I never had to worry about at DM.

Cons

Unfortunately, as with any company, you cannot prevent disgruntled ex-employees from using online blogs and review sites as an outlet to express their crazed opinions. It's so funny to read the previously written reviews, and you can almost CERTAINLY determine which ex-employees wrote them - dates reviews were written coincide with termination dates, poor grammar and personal attacks on management. Be assured that these crazy opinions by crazy people are not an accurate portrayal of what really goes on at this company. It's a fun, busy environment, and as with any job, it becomes what you make of it.
