Pros
The people are great, were great. Friendly, smart, talented, they really believe in their mission as a community newspaper and as a watchdog of government and others with power and influence. They are still inspiring to be around and work with.
Cons
Sadly, Gannett has hamstrung all its community newspapers with layoff after layoff. Although no one speaks about it openly, the general feeling is that, eventually, Gannett will eliminate all but one artist, one editor and a cops reporter. When they can no longer turn a profit even with that meager staff, they will lay those three off and auction off the building and everything else. This is a dead-end for everyone involved.
