Pros

Pay and benefits are very good for the area!

Cons

Way too many layers of management! No longer have telework flexibility. Working in the mine with the radon, mold, fumes and other elements is undesirable at best! There are some excellent leaders but then there are those that are very toxic!!

Pros

The benefits are the best pros. Some people are pros if you’re blessed to work with a knowledgeable team. If you’re trying to break into federal government, it’s a great starter agency. If you can survive here, you can probably survive anywhere. If you’re already in federal government and just want a promotion, I’d come here and leave asap.

Cons

You may love what you do, but you’ll definitely hate doing it here. The leadership at most levels is horrible. The agency can’t make progress on anything because there’s another re-organization behind every door and another one just around the corner. Between the lack of integrity and the severe overgrowth of ineptitude, the place just keeps seeking faster than a 100lb weight in a bathtub. The employees on the lower and junior levels are just trying to do our best with ever-shrinking resources. However, even that can’t be done because the decisions are being placed in the hands of those who can’t understand the basics of functioning efficiently and effectively. Every leadership all-hands is a word salad amounting to Congress, our customers, mission-partners, and the public have no faith in our ability but *insert leader name here* is here to fix that. And just like that another bright idea is forced upon the agency that resolves none of the old issues and creates a 1M more new issues to tackle. “We’re going to move faster” they say without knowing what’s slowing us down in the first place…them! They are the impediment. The bright ideas are the speed bumps. The re-orgs are the brick walls. The loss of competent personnel are the bald tires. Why would anyone think it’s a great idea to put the leadership of THE FAILING flagship in charge of all “program” offices. Do you want us to fail!? No one trusts their decisions and every day we’re given one more reason that solidifies why they’re failing.
